That one resonates. I have rebuilt my Work OS tha I teach half a dozen time. The beauty is that each rebuilt makes the system and offering stronger. It used to take me days to rebuild. Last Friday, I did a full on re-architecture and at the end of the day my students had run the migration script to get the new model running. AI magic?
Not Magic :D But thanks for comment. I think many people are in a very similar position, especially when you are deep into the AI and building agents, building skills, and all of the things around that.
The kanban arc is the whole essay in one story: two months to learn you wanted TickTick plus a 94 line shim. And it was worth it, because now the shim is obvious. The part I keep relearning is which builds are worth that tuition. Building your own kanban taught you what a kanban should do. Building your own auth mostly teaches you to go pay for auth. Same delete key, very different lesson. Your schematic-not-the-thing rule is the filter I trust most: read how they solved it, then only rebuild where the mistakes actually compound into better designs. Everything else is sentiment with a hosting bill, like you said.
