Hey digital adventurers! You know what's been rattling around in my brain lately during those late-night coding sessions I can't seem to quit? Mini-apps. Specifically, AI-powered mini-apps that can solve real business problems WITHOUT requiring a computer science degree or a massive development budget!

When I wrote about building apps with AI and how I built that QR code generator for just $4.25, I barely scratched the surface of what's possible. The reality is that we're living in this WILD time where you can create functional, targeted solutions to specific business problems with surprisingly little technical knowledge.

But here's the million-dollar question that keeps popping up in my inbox: When is it ACTUALLY worth building your own mini-app instead of using off-the-shelf solutions? Let's dive into this, because I've been experimenting like crazy and have some genuine insights to share!

When I talked about product owners becoming their own technical co-founders, this is exactly the kind of accessible development I was referring to!

When Is It ACTUALLY Worth Creating a Mini-App?

Alright, let's get to the meat of this - because not every problem needs a custom solution! After dozens of experiments and mini-apps built (some successful, some... learning experiences), here's when it genuinely makes sense:

1. When the Problem Has REAL Impact

The problem needs to be significant enough to justify even minimal development effort. This means it's:
